It’s hard to overlook the monohull Dove-Syrius Solar-Défi des Filles and its all-female crew. “Having a crew made up entirely of women is, on one hand, not an issue because we compete on equal terms with the other crews, and at the same time, it has allowed us to develop an incredible strength,” explains Christine Gaillard. “We have real bonds and a shared desire to engage in this Groupama to perform and enjoy this wonderful adventure.” Several reasons motivate them to participate, but mainly the adventure, the competition, the commitment required by this race, and the sense of disconnection it provides. For Christine Gaillard, the most memorable moment was her two finishes with the all-female crew, in 2018 and 2022, “with all the friends, families, and sharing that incredible emotion of having completed the race… I hope to experience that again; we are going to give it all we’ve got!”
Now, it’s time to prepare the boat, with one clear goal: “regret nothing, give it all… and maybe even aim for a podium!”
