A Look Back at the Start of the New Caledonia Groupama Race 2025:
The race began right on time, with a classic downwind start in the bay of Nouméa. Conditions initially seemed ideal, but the wind quickly turned fickle, making the first hours of racing particularly tricky. From the outset, contrasting strategies emerged: Poulpito stood out with a spectacular start, Boudicea opted for caution, while Motorboat II struggled during the upwind leg. Several incidents marked the beginning of the race, a collision between BCI Brex Box and Team Groupama, a course error by Rushour, and a broken halyard on Arearea. In this unstable context, weather played a crucial role, forcing crews to constantly adapt. A tense and eventful start that set the tone for a particularly unpredictable edition!
