Maluco : more excited than ever !

This is Clément Muller’s sixth time taking part in the Groupama Race — but for the first time, he’ll be skippering his own boat.
“A Groupama Race is both short and long at the same time,” says Clément. “There are so many aspects to anticipate and prepare before the start. It pushes us to be versatile — there’s the technical side, the human factor, the weather, even food… not to mention the incredible landscapes we’ll sail through!”

Bought in August 2023, Maluco has undergone thousands of hours of work to be brought back to life.
“Since we got the boat, we haven’t had a moment’s rest. Every outing marks a new step forward in the Maluco project,” Clément explains. “For nearly two years, we’ve been working nonstop to optimize and secure the boat.” All that effort might soon pay off — maybe even in the upcoming race? “I think we’re starting to worry our competitors,” he admits. “Maluco might just be the dark horse to watch in the 2025 edition when it comes to corrected time!”

As the start approaches, Clément can’t hide his excitement:
“My brain right now is pretty much like a 4-year-old kid who just landed in the middle of a rave party,” he says with a smile. “He’s standing there — it’s fun, it’s exciting, there’s noise and color everywhere… but he doesn’t quite understand what’s going on. It’s a bit overwhelming and a little scary… but he’s curious, so he stays, makes tons of weird new friends, and ends up loving every second of it.” Now that’s an image that’s hard to forget!
