MOTORBOAT II : The Groupama Race, an obvious choice

For the second time, the duo Alan Quere and Vincent Trinquet will take the start of the Groupama Race aboard Motorboat II, the boat they purchased together five years ago. “We mostly race double-handed in New Zealand, which is where the boat is based”, explains Alan.

A second time on Motorboat 2, but an eighth participation for Alan, who has never missed a single edition of the race. “I never question whether I will do the Groupama Race or not. For me, it’s an obvious choice because I love this 4 to 5-day race format. Every time, the conditions are different—night sailing, navigating along the reefs… And the race starts are always spectacular, with all the spectators on the water. We’re not used to having so many supporters!”

This year, the goal is clear: go as fast as possible! “We were supposed to race last year, and we had done extensive preparations on the boat, but it all fell through,” Alan points out. “The good thing is that the boat is already race-ready this year with minimal effort. What drives us to race is simple: we want to have a great time, compete with our fellow sailors, and see if we can go even faster than them… Since the last edition, we’ve been training hard!”
